Honour Thine Mother is a short intimate horror fantasy story taking inspiration from folklore and religion from both West and East Africa. Esomchi is a 16-year-old boy whose mother is cursed with an Ebola-like disease by her former lover, a powerful man in the nearby town and Esomchi's father. On her deathbed, he swears revenge against the man, but before she can tell him to stop she succumbs to her disease. He buries her and soon finds out that he suffers from the same disease, which further fuels his revenge. On his way to the town where his father lives he collapses from blood loss and is almost eaten by small demons called biloko. He is saved by a mysterious giant python and taken to the home of an equally mysterious giant woman. After being healed by her, he urges her to help him. She reluctantly tells him of a powerful creature known as the Mngwa. If he can land a single blow on it, it will grant him great speed, strength, immortality and the ability to turn invisible in order to reach his father undetected and without difficulty. However, if he is to truly succeed against the beast, he must decide if revenge is really what he wants.
