nice shoujo

im sooo sad this series is discountinued. anyway i new this already before i bought all 4 volumes... it is such a pitty the story is going good and heading in a good direction! i loved the characters and the drawing was so pretty. anyone who doesnt care if this series is discontinued should try this series out. it is funny and romantic. the book gets good on vol 3,4

Warm and Funny Shojo

Honey Mustard is another great Korean "manhwa" (comic). Ara, with encouragement from her friends, plucks up her courage to tell Jung Hanil that she loves him. However, upon advice from her friends, she drinks a beer beforehand to calm her nerves. Meanwhile, Young-woo is fleeing from a gang who he had a fight with. When Young-Woo finds himself a hiding place in the same room as Ara, Ara mistakes him for Jung, declares her love, and promptly throws up over him and passes out. When Young-Woo cleans himself down, takes off his shirt, and checks on the passed out Ara, the head teacher walks in. Mistaking the scene for a romantic liason, and wishing to keep her image of a strict upstanding school, she demands that their parents are notified and that they are punished. Ara's life then falls apart. Facing disgust from her father and uncaring step-mother, expulsion from school, she is told that she will be sent to live with her Aunt. Young-Woo's grandfather meanwhile sees this as an excellent way to force Young-Woo to get married young. Although Young-Woo initially refuses to, when he mistakely thinks Ara is going to commit suicide when she is in fact running away from home, he asks Ara to marry him. Ara, not seeing any other choice, reluctantly agrees. In volume 2, after signing a marriage certificate, the couple - who are strangers - move to a new school and into a extremely small apartment with one bed in it. Honey Mustard does have depressing topics, just as Fruit's Basket, but it is also be very funny, romantic, and warm. Ho-Kyung Yeo's art work can be a little harsh and many of the characters have enormous eyes ands lips. However the story and script are excellent and the character's expressions are spot on. An extremely enjoyable read - 4.5 stars. If you are wondering about the title the author named the comic after the sauce just because she likes it! However it also represents two contradicting items being joined together - just like our "couple."

Honey Mustard

While the title might be a little irrelevant, this is a great book. Sure, it's a little typical, but the art and energry are great. I'm just getting back into anime/manga after a 4 "break," and this was a refreshing new start. A great book, and well-worth the buy.
