I held my breath...

The last few chapters I do not think I breathed. I could not put this down. My neighbor brought it to me as a recommendation and I quickly was hooked. Definitely not how I thought it would end. Currently looking for another book just as good as this one. 10/10 recommend

compelling yet predictable

After their mother's death, three estranged siblings—Beth, Nicole, and Michael—reunite back in their hometown to sort out her estate. While going through their parents' belongings, they find old home videos and discover a disturbing tape from 1999 showing their father covered in blood and a dead body. They must now decide whether to investigate this mystery or bury it with their mother. Rating: 4/5 “Home is Where the Bodies Are” by Jeneva Rose gets a solid four out of five stars from me. I haven’t read all of Jeneva Rose’s books, but I’ve gone through most of them, and I think this novel showcases some of her best writing to date. The pacing and storytelling are excellent. However, I have mixed feelings about the plot. The twists didn’t surprise me, and for part of the book, not much seemed to happen. The siblings in the story were quite annoying, and I believe the book needed a massive trigger warning about addiction. Despite these complaints, it speaks volumes about Jeneva Rose’s talent that I still rate it four stars. The storytelling, as I said, is expertly crafted, the plot is well-planned, and the characters feel very real. While the story itself wasn’t my favorite, the ending was satisfying and well-explained. I look forward to reading more from Jeneva Rose and seeing how her career progresses. This might not be her best work, but I did enjoy it and I don’t regret reading it at all.
