I only wish this was still in print - this curriculum is very easy to follow. The books suggested were all at my library, so it was also relatively inexpensive. In fact, there were more ideas in this book than what we actually used. If you are looking for a great base curriculum, look no further! We've used all the books from K through Grade 6.
Homeschool Help

This was a great resource for our year of homeschooling. I used this book as a skeleton to build my son's first grade education around and it was amazing help. No one who is homeschooling should look for a single resource to provide them with "EVERYTHING". That is impossible to expect. Even the fancy homeschool kits need trips to the library and supplemental material to make them whole. The very essence of teaching and learning demands alternative views and lots of approaches to learning. But saying all of that... this is a great first grade standard. I really liked the breakdown of the numbered lessons. I put sticky tabs on the weeks and numbered them with the days we would be taking that section. It gave me a great visual guide and lots of great notes to add to my homeschool reports our city's Department of Education required to monitor my son's academic progress. One word of advice for big city homeschoolers. I found this series of books in an outlet store downtown for a fraction of the price, $5.99 to be exact! Brand new not damaged. If you're on a budget shop around.
Can't Ask For Much More!

This is my first year homeschooling and this book has been my lifesaver. It lays everything out for me so I spend more time educating my son instead of developing lesson plans. The only thing that was frustrating for me was having to flip back and forth between the sections. This and copying the accompanying worksheets probably contributed to my front cover separating from the book. I like the fact that I can supplement or substitute in areas that I choose. Overall, a must have for the homeschooling family on a budget.
We love it!

I am currently homeschooling my 5-year-old daughter using this curriculum and so far it has been an absolute pleasure! The daily lesson plans and supporting activities provide an excellent springboard for us to work from. The corresponding worksheets are not only educational, they're also fun for my daughter to do. I can't print them up fast enough for her! I don't know whether or not they fixed the problem with the binding (see below), but so far I've scanned most of the worksheets in the book and it's held up very well. This book is concise, thorough and easy to navigate. I highly recommend it to anyone who has decided to homeschool their first-grader and doesn't want to pay an arm and a leg for their curriculum.
A very complete, easy to do curriculum.

I've been home schooling my son for 2 years now and this is an awesome curriculum! It's complete, informative, easy to follow, and most important- my son enjoys it!! It contains daily lesson plans as well as a list of potential daily activities. You can easily modify it to suit your child's needs. It is extremely well rounded and helps to build a solid foundation in the basics. I would highly recommend it. I am planning on using Jean Wolff's 2nd grade curriculum in the fall!
