Absolutely ESSENTIAL

Kerryn Harper's book "Home" is an absolutely essential reference book for anyone with a interest in home decor. The book makes it simple and fun for anyone to redo a room or entire house. Harper focuses on ten popular styles and show you how to create them. The book has a quick introduction on first deciding what your style is and how to avoid styles that may now work with your lifestyle. The book then highlights the following ten distinct styles: 1. Traditional English Style 2. Country Style 3. Loft Style 4. Oriental Style 5. French Chic 6. Mediterranean 7. Scandinavian 8. Ethnic 9. American Country 10. Coastal Each section shows the reader a cross section of pattern swatches plus a range of colours that best exemplify the style being discuss. A list of fabrics used are also discusses. Each decor style has a sub-section for the various rooms (bath, bed, kitchen etc)and gives examples of things very essential to creating an authetic look. The book is profusely illustrated and gives lots of examples. The focus of this book isnt so much a home makeover as it is creating a focused or distinct look in your home. Rather than use space for "before" and "after" photos, the book wisely chooses images pf fantastic rooms that will help inspire your place. I have found this book to be indespensible. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
