Magnificent discussion of the need for innocent sacrifice

This book is truly outstanding. I read it in one day. Of particular interest is his discussion of the role of sacrifice in Christian life and why it is that it is necessary that the innocent (including our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ) sacrifice. He shows us a path to holiness that makes sense of suffering. I highly recommend it!

To live with Holiness

This wonderful book helps us to envision living with real simplicity and the constant access to Holiness such a life brings with it. Nicholl constantly brings to mind how the fretfulness and hurry of our lives separate us from what makes life most wonderful and blessed. He gives us very simple disciplines, though difficult to practice from within our world of noise and hurry, where silence and stillness, among others Nicholl points out to us, are the doors we seek.

A wonderful book!

Donald Nicholl conveys what holiness means in every day life. This book makes me a better person. I read it over and over, and buy copies to give to friends.

holiness in world religions - contemporary exemplars

Professor Nicholl provides a way in to understanding what the world's great religions have in common--by helping us identify with our fellow human beings. Modern exemplars of concerted openness to the sacred, drawn from a variety of traditions, give flesh to what could in less conscientious hands be merely an abstract subject or simple self-deluded folly. "Holiness" honors the real struggles of real saints, who share in our human search for holiness. Well, then, what do the great religions of the world have in common? We are all seeking the same thing; and the same thing is seeking all of us.
