Hold Tight the Thread

I found Marie Dorian to be a very strong woman, which was often found in that era. She needed to be strong, because of her children and the need to stand up to her husband for the sake of her children. For her to take on that trip, in order not to be left behind, and for her children to be near their father was quite extrordinary. The discription of the land and historical events that took place during all three novels was like taking the trip right along with her. I live near where she ended up settling and have visited the area, so I feel a kinship with her. Janes ability to make you feel like you are part of the book is a real talent. I felt like I was a bystander watching the trip enfold. I have read all her books and this series is my all time favorite. But I love them all and look forward to all of them as she writes more! This is an author to keep track of and get on the list for all future releases.

inspiring

Jane's books have always held my attention. I am not a great reader. I did not grow up reading. These books capture me in a world that is unfamiliar but yet so familiar. I read and carry the story around daily as if I was living in the history of it all. Most of the stories get right to my heart, however, this particular one has been a tear jerker as I have two sons of which Paul and Baptiste remind me of. One of which is not gone but lost to me emotionally. This book has helped me to understand my mistakes and let God heal me. I also learned I can only put my sons in HIS hands. I thank Jane for her insight, which is God driven and Blessed.

Another Great One

I have read all of your books and given away many, many of them. This book is great because it is about some history that I know about and much that happened before and some after the part that I know. I'm so glad that you have graced us with another of your "don't start one sentence of the next chapter or you will be hooked" books! Thank you for your very creative and expressive way of telling a story.

WOW! What a terrific end to a great story. Jane Kirkpatrick is a master story teller. The way she weaves fact with fiction to end with an exciting and believable finish is pure magic. This book is great on so many levels. It is an inspirational story of a woman's struggle against all odds at a time and in a place that made life for a woman very difficult. It certainly is a well researched historical novel. Beyond that it is a love story - of a woman for her God, her family, her neighbors and a new land just beginning to be "civilized." If you can only read one book this summer - this is it. However, I would recommend starting with "A Name of Her Own" the first book in the Tender Ties series.

Hold Tight the Thread

The book is wonderful as all of Jane Kirkpatrick's book are. It is a wonderful lesson in forgivines and living life to its fullest.
