#3 of the U.S. Marshals - the Saga of the Logue Family - Finally some action

What more can be said after two such excellent reviews: I will touch on the characters. I want to make note the Beau's story has some great action in it for American Romance. A chase - being shot at - to being on the run and hiding out. Gracie Sherwood, an excellent chef, is on the run from her ex-husband, Vincente Delgado, a Harvard educated Bolivian with an ego the size of Vermont. The U.S. Marshal's Witnes program want to place Gracie in custody, she has tried to tell them she has to get to California for the Olympic Culinary Competition - she needs the win and one hundred thousand dollars to support her and her baby. Then she can start her own restuarant again. Well the ex has found her again and she is not about to go through the horrors she had suffered when he got her pregnant. She figures she is good at disappearing. She gives that nice U.S. Marshal, Beau Logue the slip and is on the run - again. She gives him the slip 3 different times. And here she goes driving a vintage pink caddie. That car is too identifiable. Caleb is threatening to pull Beau off this case - Beau calls in the rest of the protection team - Mason, Mulgrove, Wolchek, his brother Adam and his partner, a female nicknamed "Bug". [next story] Gracie makes inroads into most of the guys affections with her delicious cooking. She has to practice you know. Well you know how it goes - one kiss leads to another [or at least the desire for another] the protective hormones rise and give battle with common sense. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - m

Wonderful heartwarming story!

Gracie Sherwood is not in the best of circumstances right now. Shocked to find out her husband was a mobster, she quickly divorced him and turned him into the Feds after she managed to find his secret diary. Now eight months pregnant and with no money, she doesn't have many choices. The only way Gracie can see to securing a future for her and her baby is to win the Culinary Arts Festival competition and use the prize money to open a new restaurant. Of course, the U.S. Marshals protecting her don't think that's such a good idea. Especially with her ex-husband out of jail and gunning for her. After locking her protector, U.S. Marshal Beauregard Logue, into a storage room, Gracie flees the scene. Beau can't believe the pregnant woman managed to lock him in a closet and escape. When the squad of marshals protecting Gracie spread out, Beau happens to be the one unlucky enough to catch up with Gracie. Only after getting shot while protecting Gracie from her ex-husband, does she finally realize she really is in danger and Beau is her only chance at living to give birth to her baby. Of course, she also manages to talk Beau into getting his boss to allow her to compete in the cooking contest. Meanwhile, the attraction between Beau and Gracie continues to grow, even though Beau knows it's against company policy. Will Beau end up losing his job over his feelings for Gracie? Will Gracie win the cooking contest? What of her ex-husband? Will he continue coming after Gracie? Will the marshals be able to keep Gracie safe? Is there a happily ever after for Beau and Gracie? HIS BABY BONUS in a wonderful continuation of the U.S. MARSHALS, BORN AND BRED series. Laura Marie Altom once again delivers a fantastic story of danger, suspense and love. I love the way we get to keep up with the Logue family and find out what's happening in all their lives. And once again, we have both a wounded hero and heroine in our story. Beau is divorced as well. Turns out his ex-wife was just trying to get a man jealous and when she ends up seven months pregnant, she divorces Beau to be with the father of her baby. And Gracie lost everything because of her ex-husband and is forced to start all over, this time, with a baby to think of. Laura Marie Altom once again weaves her magic and we get to watch these two heal each other, all while keeping Gracie safe from her ex-husband. Laura Marie Altom is one author on my auto-buy list and for good reason, she always writes a thrilling story of two wounded people coming together and leaves me with warm, fuzzy feelings and the heartfelt sigh at the end.

fine romantic suspense

In Fort McKenzie, Oregon, eight months pregnant Gracie Sherwood is under the protection of the US Marshall Service witness protection program to keep her safe from her former husband dangerous Bolivian trafficker Vicente Delgado who just escaped from prison and plans to stop her from testifying against him in court. U.S. Marshal Beauregard "Beau" is assigned to keep her safe, but though she knows Vicente has an ego larger than Vermont and will come for her, the feisty woman refuses to stay hidden. Instead she insists on going to San Francisco to participate in the Culinary Art Invitational cooking competition as she feels she can win and subsequently provide herself and her unborn with a strong new start. Gracie sneaks out of her cocoon only to have someone, most likely Delgado try to kill her. Beau rescues her as she now realizes how precarious her situation truly is. However, Beau admires the courageous chef and soon finds he cannot resist kissing her. However the recipe for love has a detour named Delgado that first must be dealt with and then there is the soon to born infant next. Though similar stories have been told using the witness protection program as a matchmaking device, the pregnancy keeps the tale fresh. The brave Gracie refuses to allow her ex, her pregnancy or the marshal service to stop her plans. Beau sees the beautiful inner woman and does not allow the fact that she is carrying the child of a bad seed to admire and desire (in spite of eight months - that's real love) her. HIS BABY BONUS is a fine romantic suspense. Harriet Klausner
