Describes 52 hikes in the Bitterroot Mountains of western Montana and north central Idaho. Hikes range from short day hikes to extensive wilderness treks up to 75 miles in length. Information includes trail descriptions, maps, creek crossings. Problem locations for bears are identified and fishing information.
I have yet to go on my hike, but I've been impressed with the local, homegrown quality of this book and the detailed information it provides. The hand drawn maps are quaint yet completely sufficient; the routes depicted in the maps agreed closely with those indicated on my topo map. In addition, other routes not on my topo were in the book! Also, I like that I feel I'm getting the information from a local who really knows the area, not just some corporation that shipped some fellow out there so they could write a book and make money.
