Thomas Hally was born and raised in San Francisco, California. After a truncated career as a United States Army Infantry Officer, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in History from the University of San Francisco. Helater studied (as an autodidact) and wrote poetry in the City by the Bay, transmogrifying into a post-Beatnik-post-Hippie-nouveau Bohemian. A short time later, Hally packed his rucksack and headed off for Madrid for a six-month sojourn. After my return from Spain and a brief visit home, he moved to San Diego; then quickly proceeded on the south of the R o Bravo (Rio Grande) to Cuernavaca, Morelos and on to Mexico City, where he worked and studied for two years at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.In late 1980, Thomas and Guadalupe Hally moved to San Francisco after an extended honeymoon in England and in France, where we had studied at the Alliance Fran aise and the Sorbonne. Thomas Hally soon began his career in the United States Government Civil Service starting as a computer tape librarian then as a computer programmer for the United States Army Corps of Engineers, South Pacific Division.Since 2006, he has occupied his free time as writer of short stories, articles, book reviews, and poems for the Lake Chapala Review and the Revista Meretrices as well as magazines from Argentina to Australia and from the UK to the USA. He joined American Mensa in the early 1980s and has been an active member since then. In 2007, he was surprised and honored by the Editor of the Mensa International Journal with an invitation to be her regular feature article writer. Thomas Hally was also the Vice-President an Editor-in-Chief of Telicom, the magazine for The International Society for Philosophical Enquiry.He has lived off and on in Mexico with his wife, Guadalupe, since 1977. Lupita and Thomas have lived for the past sixteen years in retirement accompanied and eight lively, cute, and very friendly cats.
