Erica is a sociopath, no doubt, but Maddie didn't exactly make it difficult for her. There is no way you should allow another girl to invite herself along on the first date you have with a guy. If she had only said, "Bye, see you," she would have saved herself so much grief. Not that Mike is necessarily worth so much grief. I started hating him when he snapped at Maddie, after the incident at the party. If that had been me, after I'd said, "Do you want to leave," I would have followed it with "Go right ahead." And what Erica did to Jimmy was really reprehensible. Not only did she use him, she hurt his reputation: now everyone's going to think he's a masher, and he might not get another date for a long time! If this were a TV show, that might be followed up on, and Maddie might even end up with him. But he's served his purpose, and disappears. Poor sod...Apart from that, I like it that the Roni storyline was continued. I heard someone say once, "When you are an addict, it is never past tense." That's really true, and Roni's situation---being dumped by the guy who was her touchstone---is a classic one that has led many addicts back to the bottle. And she's following another common pattern---the urge to try drinking again just to "see" if you can handle it or not. Her parents were portrayed somewhat broadly, but many addicts to come from dysfunctional families.
