Funny, but not for everyone

Let me start out by saying that as a female manga reader I have tired of the manga that throws out fanservice to catch the eye of certain manga readers, yet does nothing to keep the other readers interested in the story. It's old, it's been done before, & it's usually done only to keep people interested in a story that's frankly not that interesting. When I saw this series I expected it to be more of the same old, same old. I was very pleased to find that this is not the case in this series. While HSG *does* have fanservice (and a lot of it at times), it never get extraordinarily over the top & in some cases it isn't very sexual at all. In this volume we are introduced to the main characters (Eriko, Yuma, Ayano, & Kouda), as well as some secondary characters that are usually introduced as the "Second String" since they don't appear as often in the manga. The initial storyline goes over the girls' reasons for entering into an all girls school, as well as their squabbles with the girls who have already been acclimatized into the all girls school environment. While at times the characters do seem a little shallow & the plotlines a little simple, you are always entertained by the characters' antics. The antics may be crazy, but they are usually somewhat believable to have occured at an all girls school. Some people may be initially turned off by the first volume, but I really do recommend at least giving the later volumes a try. Just as the girls grow older & mature, so does the manga. In the later volumes the fanservice is greatly reduced, the art quality greatly improves, and the characters grow deeper & the girls truly start to become more mature emotionally & mentally. Just like any other manga series, you have to give the story & characters time to unfold.

Definitely worth reading!

High School Girls is a manga series all about the life of well... high school girls! It's full of hilarious incidents that the best friends go through in their daily lives. What I liked about it is that they discuss the topics that girls actually talk about. Although it may seem a little graphic at some points, it's true to life! Girls really do discuss and laugh over these particular things so I guess in a sense, you just gotta read it to know what I'm talking about. I'd say this manga is more for girls than boys because of the subjects in it. Definitely worth collecting and reading. ^_^

Funny Shojo Manga

This manga is funny. Its a mix between American Pie and Clueless. But if you are easily grossed out then don't read, this book is raunchy. Too bad there isn't much of a storyline. This manga would be so much better with a better storyline. But the humor makes up for it

Wickedly Funny

I highly recommend High School Girls, one of the best mangas I have read in a while! I actually picked it up by accident about a month or two ago and once I read it I was hooked! This is definately a great choice for those readers who are very into shoujo manga.
