Chinese built the iron road to Promontry for a Great America
Published by walter Ko , 2 years ago
It is a centennial documentary for the building this Central Pacific from Sacramento to Promontory with Chinese labors who sacrificed in their lives, blood and sweat in this endeavor. Many pages were descriptive in the planning and building this national project with determination and endurance. Many pages were devoted in describing in great details in Chinese daily life and habit quite different from whites. They led a clean, community and decent work ethics and demanded equal and fair treatment. The payroll did not keep track of their full names but listed over twelve thousands. They were committed to their job even in the snow storm and buried alive holding their tools as told in pages 136 and 148. It was said that every spike has a Chinese soul guarding angel. They left their heart and soul for America greatness so that California fresh fruits and vegetables could reach East Coast to enjoy. They railway facilitated interstate commerce, transportation and prosperity. This book with many historic pictures is a good recommendation for all AMERICAN POLITICIANS who alleged China as public enemy number one with over ten thousand cases of abuse and violence against Asian Americans in Covid 19 pandemic. This book is a good read on ten miles a day achievement and may motivate a site visit for this important American history
