Easier Read Than Done

This is such an easy, entertaining read that if you're not very careful you might accidentally learn something. You see, Carty is sneaky like that. He is, at once, funny, introspective, vulnerable and charming, lovably fallible, but mostly honest. That is how his book reads. Whether it is his intention or not, he challenges his reader to be honest as well, with himself and others, and offers in this compilation hilarious, thoughtful, and encouraging anecdotes of his own personal experiences. He's not preaching, he's just sharing. Someone once told me, "I hate religion, but I love Jesus," and I get the feeling Carty would agree. The human experience can at times be a cold and desperate one, but he reminds us that it doesn't have to be. So, enjoy his book like I did, but take his challenge to heart: be genuine, act out of love and not fear, and know that you aren't alone. Easier read than done.

I felt like Carty was reading my mind and living a life parallel to mine. Everyone reading this book can relate and get inspired!

Great book!

High Points and Lows is a fantastic book! I found the book to be very inspiring. Austin Carty talks about how many Christians allow pride to creep in their daily walk (myself included!) and before you know it, our focus is on ourselves instead of Jesus. I loved the book and highly recommend it!

One of the best books I've ever read...

High Points and Lows was one of the best books I have ever gotten my hands on. My original intentions were to read the book a few nights in a row this week, and I sat down to read it tonight, and could not put it down! I finished it all in one night! Austin Carty is an excellent author, who produced an incredible read. I could not be more thankful to the person that introduced me to the book, as I will do to others. Inspiring book! Everyone should read it!

Figuring it all out.

Excellent read. I highly recommend this book for anybody riding the roller coaster of human experience. Carty's style is humorously conversational and inviting, but his intentions are straightforward. He doesn't claim to have all of life's riddles figured out. This isn't a self-help book where Carty tells the readers the answers to their deepest problems. He simply offers a look into his unique experiences as a Christian, and more importantly, as a human. In each chapter Carty revisits moments in his own life, both good and bad, where he caught small glimpses of God's love, grace, and understanding. I'll definitely be re-reading this book in the near future, as it offers so many parallels to my personal life.
