Real-life parenting problems wrapped in fantasy

The "Hi and Lois" comic strip presents the family life with four energetic children, one teen boy, a young boy and girl and a baby girl. This wide spectrum of ages gives the author ample opportunity to present the gamut of the problems and joys of parenting and they take advantage of it. Throw in a lazy beer-guzzling neighbor and his wife, a large dog and two garbage collectors and you have a mix that is a microcosm of society. The best comic strips are real-life wrapped in the tempering affects of a fantasy and "Hi and Lois" satisfies that definition.
