Cody's father is an F.B.I. agent, he's got a pet emu, and he's an ace on Rollerblades. At least, that's what Cody tells his class on the first day at his new school. Being Super Deluxe Cody is great, until someone throws a skating party. And suddenly, the game may be up
Betsy Duffey consistently delivers terrific children's books. The writing is varied and readable, and there are humor, pathos and realistic problems for early elementary readers. This installment in the series about Cody Michaels is no exception. The plot concerns Cody's trepidations at starting in a new school. He quickly decides that being plain ol' Cody isn't enough to impress his new classmates, so he develops a more interesting persona -- Super Cody! -- who hails from Alaska, is a championship roller skater, and has a pet emu and a dad who is really a secret agent! As you might guess, the truth eventually comes out in a disastrous (but funny) way, and Cody ultimately reveals himself as himself to some new friends. Great story, well told, and an excellent read-aloud book or chapter book for older elementary age children.
An excellent book for any 3rd grader.

My 8 year old son and I really enjoyed this book. It is about Cody, a 3rd grade boy, who moves during the school year and has to go to a new school. He misses his friends and worries that the kids at the new school will not accept him so he makes up a few lies to make his life seem more interesting. One of the lies he tells, being a champion roller skater, caches up with him when he is invited to a roller skating party. Cody has a solution - he cuts lunch to go to the library to read about roller skating. His skills are put to the test during the party with disastrous results. Betsy Duffey's book is very well written, entertaining and easy to read book with characters and a story line that a 3rd grader can relate to. Duffey also uses symbolism that is often overlooked in books for young readers.

I bought this book for my 7 yr old just before moving from the east coast to the west coast in the middle of the school year. Our first Betsey Duffey book. We absolutely LOVED it! We read every Cody book she put out since as soon as we can get our hands on them. My son insist we owning every one so he can read them again and again. He can really relate to Cody.
I liked the book. It was really funny!

It was funny when he was going rollerskating and he got so dizzy that he went into the girls bathroom by accident. The girls saw him and wrapped him up with toilet paper. This is a good book for kids who like to laugh.
