Book Overview

Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father-an elusive European warlock-only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a...

Lots of fun.

An awkward teen is sent to a special school for witches, warlocks, vampires, and werewolves. Upon discovering that her father is a warlock and her mom is normal. She discovers her powers upon her birthday, and is sent to either control these powers or stay there like a prison. Fun characters and world wide intrigue.

Order Mistake

I ordered a hardcover version of this book and received a paperback instead. However, the book itself was still really good which is why I gave it 3 stars instead of 1 for the order mixup.

Yay!

This book was such an easy and fast read. It's fun, mysterious, and likable. It's creepy (but not too creepy) in such a good way, and I can't wait to read the others!

Excellent YA Series

I have read many, many series of Young Adult novels, and this series is one of the best. I love the main character, Sophie; she is spunky and independent. This book (and its sequels) made me laugh, held me in suspense, and kept me hooked the whole time I was reading. I love this series, and I highly recommend it!

Fun read, sassy heroine.

The thing I really enjoyed most about this book was Sophie's sass. I can't turn down a sassy heroine. Ever. I think this would made a good middle-grade read but it was also fun and pretty enjoyable as someone who does not fall into that category.
