A very good read

What would you do to save a life of someone you barely knew? Would you do everything you can, or walk away? What does young love look like? What do you do when, no matter what, you have to let that love go? What do you do when, death is staring someone right in the face? These are the human questions asked by this book. The book is written from the perspective of Hiro Nakamura of the "heroes" TV series, endowed with powers over space and time. He traverses both out of devotion to his heroic journey. We all have watched a loved one pass and said "if only I had more time." The problem here is that even with all the time in the world, the world might die. Would you save one life and lose the world? Which is more important? Or are they linked? Some fans are a bit overcritical of this book. It is told from the perspective of a young naive 24 year old exploring America with wide eyes and ethusiasm. His journey is not straightforward and it shouldn't be. This book was well worth the time. It's not all dark and creepy, but there is a message here. Sometimes evil cannot be stopped and wins a battle in the war.

Decent, Pretty Good

I enjoyed this book. I love the show and was looking forward to this book. There's not much action to it and it's more about Hiro's character than anything else. It had sort of a romantic comedy feel to it. I think the writer did a good job getting into Hiro's personality and provided some glimpses into his childhood that were interesting. Overall I liked it. I do hope for future books they get some more science fiction or comic book writers to pen them, but having said that, I would read this author again if they write another one.

A great read that will stay with you

This was an incredible read. Get this book! The novel grabs you from the first page and won't let you go until the end. Definitely worth every bit of time and coin spent. I laughed, I cried. I laughed and I then cried some more. I'm almost half way through it for the 2nd time. Great job!

funny, in-depth, and emotional

I started reading this book this morning on the train, and couldn't put it down! the writing is great -- engaging, witty, smart, and I think it perfectly suits the tone of the show, without being too heavy-handed with specific show references. the characters are wonderfully drawn -- reading Hiro's story here makes me want to go back and watch the entire series again, knowing what I know about him now. he's just as loveable in the book as he is on the show, but less charicaturish -- so often we just get to see the outward goofy guy who's always throwing his hands up in the air and cheering. that Hiro is here, but we also get to see what he's thinking underneath that befuddled exterior. the novel was fast=paced, funny, and fun to read, and, even though I knew it was coming, I cried at the end. I'd recommened this to any heroes fans, but also anyone who wants a touching, sweet love story.

A page turner for any Heroes fan!

Before the release of this book I hurriedly re-watched the series on DVD. All I will say is that "Saving Charlie" lived up to my expectations and, in fact, ended pretty much as I imagined it would. Ms. Wallington keeps true to the show's characters and makes their interactions believable. There is plenty of action right from the get-go. I certainly hope that there are more books to come in this series.
