There is something a bit unusual about this book. Under the section, Special Interest Pot Pourris, there are pot pourri recipes, but they seem to be telling us more about Mary Magdalene in coded form than about flower mixes. My copy is dated 1988. That is eighteen years before the Da Vinci Code was written. Maybe the 'code' is in the roses afterall?

This is a really lovely book to relax with. I love old roses and was pleased to find this one. Roses don't date and nor will this book.

What a fun book. The roses are described in a personal way that makes them interesting to me. I have learnt to love heritage roses because of this book. Watercolor plates of the roses are superb.

'Heritage Roses & Old Fashioned Crafts' is a charming, witty book written in the style of Jane Austen. It relates the history behind the name of the rose. The medieval crafts are delightful. The watercolour plates of the roses rivals Redoute. A true rose classic!
