an informative, beautifully illustrated guide

I found "Herbs for the Soul" to be a very helpful guide to understanding different herbs and the healing powers they possess. The author has organized her book clearly into separate categories (relaxation, stimulation, etc.). This allowed me to compare different herbs that contain related potencies, and discover which ones might work well together. The descriptions also explain how the herbs work on the body and warns of possible interactions. She takes care to inform the reader about the history of an herb in its use in Western or Chinese treatments, and of herbal science in general. Last but not least, the book is illustrated with artistic photographs of herbs and herbal preparations. All in all this is an excellent book for understanding herbs for both the novice and the more experienced health seeker.
