Herbal Tonic Therapies

Mowrey is a good author, his blends are well thought out, well written, and well researched. I used one of his books for a herbology class, and found I wanted as many of his other works as I could find. I use his references quite a bit in my own research and blending. The only problem I have with his books is that there are no quantities listed in his blends. The up side might be meditatively cautionary for those not as well versed in herbology and phyto-biology to not just try using plants with the respect and responsibility they deserve. Very good reference book to have on your shelf.

On "Herbal Tonic Therapies"

"Herbal Tonic Therapies" is an incredible book. Easy to read, informative, and practical, Daniel B. Mowrey's book is a must-read for those of us who want to take charge of our own health and to do so in an effective, safe way. After identifying and describing the major body systems, Mowrey identifies and discusses the mostly scientifically proven, preventative and curative effects and properties of major tonic herbs on those body systems. If you are suffering from a malady, even a severe one, this is an excellent, inexpensive way to seek alternative solutions.

A must for any personal Herbal Libirary!

Herbal Tonic Therapies by Daniel B. Mowrey, Ph.D. is a comprehensive guide to the use of whole herbs which includes folk use, clinical studies, chemical composition, safety data and references for each herb listed. The author cites European clinical studies as most of the sources. The purpose of this book is to provide the reader with information on tonic herbs and how they are used. This is written for the lay person as well as the practitioner.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in herbs, whether they were using the book for self-help, or studying Herbalism.
