Good Historical fiction

I was pleasantly surprised by this novel. Her Inheritance Forever is the second book in the Texas Star of Destiny series, and I hadn't read the first book (The Desires of Her Heart). Set in 1836 during the Texas revolution, this was a wonderful historical romance. The characters ran into the famous Sam Houston and the infamous Santa Anna. Cote admits to taking "dramatic license" with two facts, but she includes a brief historical note to address those issues. Readers are left more informed of that era and war. Brief Synopsis: Alandra Sandoval is a woman in charge of her own ranch in Texas, a time where women in leadership is extraordinary. She is fiercely independent and wants to prove that she can do it without a man; however, a series of events including the war, a kidnapping, and greedy relatives brings a man into her life. Scully Falconer is a ranch hand at the Quinn's ranch. The Quinns were Alandra's guardians after she lost her family (and the subject of the first book). Scully is asked to protect Alandra, and he does everything he can to do that. Both find more than they ever thought they would. The characters in this book were well-developed, despite not reading book one. Back stories, thoughts, and actions showed us who they were and why. The romance was sweet; the relationships were tender. Alandra came to a very tough realization about herself in which she grew spiritually and emotionally. The storyline moved quickly, and there were moments of tension along the way. I know I would enjoy the rest of the series, and I look forward to reading others by Lyn Cote.

Her Inheritance Forever

This story is about a young girl that has inherited a ranch and is determined to run it all alone. A young cowboy comes alone and he starts to help her. This is a historical romance book and really is good. I am sorry but I am not a writter and can't really come up with good reviews, but the autor Lyn Cote always writes great stories. She is an alsome lady and I would recommend this book to everyone.

In HER INHERITANCE FOREVER, Lyn Cote places characters in a situation that will bring her characters to a deeper faith. Relying on the promises of Psalm 37, Alandra prays to God, trusting him to protect in times of evil and defend her inheritance. Through the events she experiences and her growing closeness to Scully, Alandra's faith deepens and her idea of inheritance grows beyond that of just land to the inner inheritance and freedom born from God. Scully's faith grows quietly in quiet moments and memories, expanding from an individual moment in their lives to a faith that accompanies him as a soldier. In HER INHERITANCE FOREVER, faith comes from within her characters, transforming them and their understanding of love and their individual faith through the romance that brings them together. In 1836 someone hired a rogue Comanche to abduct Alandra Sandoval. Her guardian Quinn and a ranch hand Scully Falconer rescue her. Quinn, his wife Dorritt and Alandra believes whoever was behind the kidnapping covets her ranch that she will soon run. However, upon returning to her spread, she also finds her paternal family who were not there for her when her brother died wants the rancho. As rebellion is in the air leaving it undecided whether Mexican or Tejano law will rule in Texas, Alandra and Scully agree to a marriage of convenience to protect her interests in whatever court has jurisprudence. Scully is half way in love with Alandra, but she is a Creole lady and he is nothing with a nightmare that haunts him. However, as he accompanies Quinn to learn what happened at the Alamo, she is snatched again. This time Scully plans to rescue his beloved wife and persuade her he loves her and wants her forever. The latest Texas Stars of Destiny historical romance leaves the Era of Good Feelings (see DESIRES OF THE HEART for the story of Quinn and Dorritt) for the uncertain Texas War of Independence period. Fans will feel the anxiety and uncertainty as communication is relatively poor; for instance no one knows what happened at the Alamo. Alandra and Scully are full developed characters who fans will root for while her guardians are going into middle age gracefully and still in love. However, her Mexican family is stereotyped one dimensional avarice thugs. Still fans will enjoy the inspirational adventures of Scully and Alandra as they fall in love while setting some sort of record for kidnappings and rescues. Harriet Klausner
