Great Tension!

Elizabeth Dupres is daughter of Bitsy Dupres, the head of the committee who is protesting the presence of Carnies in their town. Prior to meeting Carlo Fuentes, Elizabeth follows her mother in the protest, not really beleiving in it but wanting to support her mother. At first sight however, Elizabeth and Carlo connect. They each restore the other's faith in certain parts of humanity and help the other grow stronger as a person. The tension between them is amazing! With the book remaining in the PG/PG-13 rage it is very impressive. Definately something different--though I can't imagine people protesting a carnival in this day and age.

#4 of BLOSSOM COUNTY FAIR - great answers

Wonderful Cover - Sheltered Elizabeth Dupres loved her mother, Bitsy very much. Her mother still hadn't gotten over the death of her husband. Bitsy was also one of the spear-heads of CMB who were picketing the carnival. Ah, but one look that Elizabeth shared with Carlo Fuentes was enough to make her heart take flight. There was something magnetic about the gypsy prince. [actually he came from New York]. He didn't believe in love and she did believe in family. She had just finished her first year of teaching and at 23 was still waiting for something special to happen in her life. Suddenly she is sneaking out to meet Carlo, but she was getting better with kissing. Would she be able to let Carlo go when the carnival left Blossom? He wasn't staying and she wasn't leaving - what dilemma! But she did cause him to break his rule about not going into town. Boy the trouble was just starting. Who was at the bottom of the great Swindle? Who was causing all the trouble and blaming it on the carnies? One man had the answer if only he could remember. Loved those two old coots! Carlo was having a hard time keeping innocent Elizabeth from pushing him over the edge. Why couldn't he just claim her and get her out of his system? This was an excellent plot - a great tying up of all the lose ends - especially with Cherry's subtle readings for Carlo etc. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED - wonderful set of stories - a very pleasant past-time.
