Her Best Friend's Lover

Lauren Spencer has been in love with Dale Stoner for five long years. She had a longing for him that she had not ever had for another living soul, but he had relegated her to friend status, and although she lived with it, she hated it. Lauren had a horrible life growing up in the foster care system, and as a result, she didn't trust anyone or share personal things from her life. She just couldn't risk it or the hurt that would surely come from it. Dale loved women, and women definitely loved Dale, but there was only one woman that had captured his heart many years ago. Nikki had been in possession of his heart, and there was nothing he could do about it. He was glad he had his best friend to lean on, and someone that understood him. He had been close to Lauren since he moved in next door, and was flabbergasted when she announced her pregnancy. Dale didn't even know she had been seeing anyone, and he never saw anyone hanging around. The more time Dale spent with Lauren the more involved he became with her pregnancy. He found he was enjoying the experience, and after Nikki, he didn't think he would ever be part of a family. When he began having more than friendly feelings toward Lauren, it confused but excited him. He was looking forward to exploring a relationship with her, but one thing really bothered him. She wouldn't disclose who fathered her baby. His identity was purposely kept secret, and she was adamant that no one know. This is a good old-fashioned romance with a good mix of erotic scenes and story. Lauren has lived a difficult life, and has survived the best way she knows how to. She is a complex well written character that has found her soul mate in Dale. He lives his life in the past on the premise of "what if's". As these two try to put together the pieces of their lives to start anew, lies and misunderstandings threaten to destroy them.

5 Star Romance

This is one of the best erotic romances I've read in a long while. It's a simple premise. Lauren's in love with Dale. Dale's still in love with an old girlfriend. One night when he's drunk, the two of them sleep together. After that night, memories of Lauren haunt him, but he doesn't remember who she is. Both have their personal issues to work through and you're sure to enjoy the tale. Simple premise or not, Her Best Friend's Lover is well written and hard to stop reading. The balance between romance and erotica makes for steamy sex scenes. Dale could be domineering--but in a good way. And Lauren was so sweet. They were easy to like. I highly recommend this one.

This story is classic in that Shiloh Walker has found a way to put this into words to make a charming, sizzling tale that ends up being a real page turner. Two best friends fighting the pull toward one another. The thrill of newly discovered feelings versus the familure comfort of friendship. Love conquers all its said. Surrendering to such a conquest has never been sweeter.
