Historical Fiction is a new way to see our past

I have read the other reviews and I am confused by some of them, but others, well, I just don't get it... Anyway, this is a review about the book, not about the other reviewers, so... -- Henry's Queen is a Historical Fiction about the time surrounding King Henry I's time. I don't know about you, but I find history extremely difficult to read... The best way I have found to overcome this outlook on history is to find a good historical fiction and read. There are some books that come close to understanding the "life and times" of the people they are about, but NONE so close as this one. Mrs. Linford has obviously done her homework. She has details about the life during that time that only someone with an advanced degree might have. You can tell she really enjoys the subject and puts a lot of herself into her work. This book is anything but boring. There are intricate plots and sub-plots, stories and sub-stories...everyone is scheming and planning, and you get a full dose of what life must have been like a thousand years ago. I would recommend this book for 3 kinds of people: 1) those that find history sometimes hard to read, but enjoy learning about historic things 2) those that enjoy a fiction that seems to come to life as you read it 3) anyone who enjoys a good book by other good authors like Shakespeare, or any other author that loved to write about life I believe you will all have as enjoyable a read as I did.

I love the book. I am not a history buff, so it was all new material to me. In fact it was the first historical fiction novel I have ever read, it was a fascinating story.
