Hebrew for Dummies [With CD]

(Part of the Dummies Series)

The fun and easy way to star speaking Hebrew

One of the most amazing things about Hebrew is that, in less than a century, it has gone from an ancient language of prayer and ritual spoken by a few holy men to a modern language of sunbathing, dining, going to the movies, and countless other everyday activities, spoken by millions. Modern Hebrew is a beautiful language, but for a native English speaker it can be tough wrapping your tongue...

Damaged goods!

I bought this book brand new and it came with a CD that was broken when delivered. I can not get anyone on the phone or the website to assist.

Hebrew for Dummies

Great product, very helpful. Just what I needed to help me start learning.

Hebrew for Dummies

No dummy wrote this book. It is an exellent resource. One giant plus is all of the Hebrew letters are distinguishable. In several other resources I have bought, the Hebrew is too small to read and learn to write. If you want a good source that you can actually read and learn to write from, buy this.

Ata Medamber Ivrit?

As a student of the Middle East and traveler to the State of Israel I have always wanted to improve my Hebrew skills. The Hebrew for Dummies book covered a wide variety of topics ranging from Jewish prayers in Hebrew to talking about the weather. For those who are better learners from audio the book was came complete with a CD that went through sentences and pronunciation. Personally I learned more vocabulary from the Hebrew for Dummies book than I did from a month in Israel (hanging around with a number of Israeli friends).

Wonderful learning tool

Usually, I would hesitate to recommend a "Dummies" book both for the misleading name and the absence of any "hoopla" over the author's name. In this case, I was totally wrong. Jacobs is an experienced teacher of Hebrew and has written a book that is easy-to-understand well organized and well integrated with the accompaning CD ROM. I recommend this book to everyone who is learning Hebrew for the first time or, perhaps, for those would like to improve their Sephardic pronunciation.

Hebrew made fun!

Bravo! Ms. Jacobs has done a superb job in teaching/brushing up on Hebrew. This book is fun, easy to follow and teaches practical Hebrew. I feel quite confident in my Hebrew speaking skills too. I highly recommend this book.
