Elizabeth Stafford, a young girl from Virginia, wants more in her life then what is expected of her; namely that of marrying the right man that her father approves of, having children and running her own home. While she is a boarding school in Charleston, South Carolina all of that seems possible, Madame Corday expects them to use their brains and to learn, not just to be proper Southern ladies. While at the school's Christmas Ball Elizabeth meets a Union soldier, Adam Cranfield, and everything she knows is turned upside down. Mostly because he won't play the flirting game with her and that draws Elizabeth to him, the fact that he isn't easily swayed by a pretty face. But the Civil War is coming and as the two get to know each other and fall in love, choices have to be made.

Very good book!!

Im a student at Santa Monica High and we were suppose to read a Historical Fiction book. I was really not interested in reading a historical book. But after reading "Hearts Divided" it changed what I felt about Historical books. Im really interested in reading the other books that follow this one. It was a very interesting book.

A very good book that's set in Civil War time period

This is a very inticing book and the setting is great for people who like historical fiction. Elizabeth is a southern belle who met the man of her dreams right before the war broke out. When she's caught in the middle of what her father wants, what she wants, and the middle of fighting all around her, she has to mature from the person she was and put back what her heart wants and help others in need. Will she ever be able to be with the love of her life?

This was a great book!

This exciting, romantic book was set against the backdrop of the Civil War. Elizabeth is a Southern belle from Virginia who was sent to a Charleston, South Carolina boarding school to become a "proper" young lady. But at the school's Christmas ball, Elizabeth meets Adam, a Yankee lietentant that she falls in love with. Elizabeth's father would forbid her to see him. The North and the South have become a divided nation. Will Elizabeth's loyalties lie with her country or her heart?

This is the best book I ever read!!!

I love Hearts Divided because it really could have happened and it is well written. Also the other books in this series are exellent.
