A disappointing 4th book

**This is book 4 in a completed series. You need to read the previous books to understand the plot of this book.** Set in New 2, a dangerous and lush alternate New Orleans, the fourth book in Keaton’s Gods & Monsters series, finds the God-killer Ari and Mistborn Sebastian on the hunt for Archer, infant son of Athena, a child fated to bring about the Blood Wars, the ultimate showdown between the gods and the monsters they created, a war that will trap mankind in the middle of a destructive conflict thousands of years in the making. As Ari and Sebastian attempt to rescue the child, forces pull them apart, sending Sebastian on a perilous journey to the desert sands of Egypt and into the lair of a dark, enthralling entity, and Ari to the Halls of Olympus and, darker still, the very heart of the Underworld where Death awaits with a bargain that brings Ari’s worst nightmares into sharp and heart wrenching focus. Ratings: 1. **Plot and Storytelling:** 2/5 While the plot was enjoyable, I found there was an excessive amount of info dumping that lacked subtlety. However, once past the initial barrage of information, the story started to unfold well and was engaging. Unfortunately it lost me again and by the end was not nearly as enjoyable as the previous books. 2. **Characterization:** 4/5 I absolutely love these characters and how they've grown and overcome challenges. My personal favorite is Violet. 3. **Writing Style:** 3/5 The writing was descriptive and well-done, and the pacing of the book was not bad. However, the heavy info dumping at the beginning was off-putting, despite the overall quality of the writing. 4. **Originality:** 4/5 I appreciate the unique take on Medusa and other supernatural elements woven throughout the story. The inclusion of multiple pantheons of Gods added an intriguing layer of depth. 5. **Emotional Impact and Resolution:** 3/5 The story evoked a range of emotions in me, from fear to anger to happiness. However, I felt that the ending, while emotionally resonant, was too overt in setting up for a fifth book, detracting somewhat from the overall resolution. Overall rating: 3/5 Would I buy this book again? No. If given the chance, I'd consider borrowing this book from the library or using Kindle Unlimited, rather than purchasing it again. If you enjoyed "Heart of Stone" by Kelly Keaton, you might like "City of Bones" by Cassandra Clare. Both books are urban fantasy novels with strong female protagonists navigating supernatural worlds filled with intrigue and danger.
