Absolutely Enchanting. Deserves it's award

This book is filled with lovely pictures of a mother duck as she searches for her baby who wandered off. The pictures are wonderful. The few repetitive words there are encourage my child to 'read' the book. He also loves finding the duck on every page. I wish I could find more books like this one- simple, gorgeous pictures, a nice story with a happy ending, a lot of opportunity for other activities while you read. We find the missing duck, count the ducklings, look at the pretty colors, look for other animals and more.

A few words, and a search.

This book is about a mother duck that cannot find one of her ducklings. She goes around asking the other denizens of the pond if they have seen it. The fun thing is that, if you look, you will find where the duckling is.There are few words in this book, so be aware of the reading level (baby-preschool). However, the artwork is very well done, and the fun of having the little reader find the missing duckling on each page makes the whole thing worthwhile.

Great to develop observation skills of toddlers.

My 2 year-old loves this book. We borrowed it from the army library and now we have to buy it. My daughter loves to search for the missing duckling on each page.

Excellent reading fun with my babies.

Nancy is my cousin. So I am somewhat biased in my opinion. But I must say that I have passed this book on to all 13 of my step-grandchildren and every preschool teacher I have known. It is excellent group reading, as the children get so excited when they see the duckling and Mommy Duck doesn't. Thanks Nancy for the legacy.

Delightful illustrations for children!

This board book was a first birthday present for my baby daughter, Kiana. We would read the book together several times a week, and I would find her "reading" it by herself, turning the pages and saying "quack quack" to the ducks. After a couple of weeks I asked Kiana, "Where is the little duckling?" and, to my wonderment, she would point it out! Even Kiana's daddy didn't find the hiding duckling as quickly as she could (the little duckling is *quite* small in some pictures). This fun, delightfully illustrated book has become one of our very favorites and ducks have become Kiana's favorite animal!
