Excellent beginning for new author

The author lets it be known that he is somewhat new to this new author stuff. The stories in this collection, while not all the same quality, were nevertheless interesting and readable. I agree with the writer that the first story is the best: I have never read an apocalyptical story where the Earth was rendered silent. Excellent premise. One small piece of advice: flesh out your characters more. Except for the first story, I could not get a visual image of any of the characters while I read. Age? Weight? Ethnic Background? I like to be able to "see" the character while I'm reading. Keep up the good work!
