This is the third book by Miz that I have read. I must say you can't judge a book by the page count. What I mean is Miz's first book "Bishop" had a huge page count and the story was excellent. With the follow up "Bulldog Crew" he took it to the streets, again the story was great. So when he dropped "Haters..." I was apprehensive to read because of the significant drop in page count. I thought in the back of my mind he must have run out of things to say. I was highly wrong to not pick up this book sooner. While this book is a work of fiction, I am quite certain most of these events are true in someone's life. This book puts me in the mind of the movie Crash. I mean there is so much hate going on, on all different levels. Haters has several different incidents some on large levels some on small levels, none more larger then the main character Maleek Smith is faced with. Maleek is the new kid on the block originally from Brooklyn, NY he moves to Queens, NY. Maleek is handsome and all the girls want a piece of him. When the local drug dealer Nut's girlfriend Tarsha starts to feel Maleek, Nut goes on a rampage to get Maleek of the scene. The guys in the neighborhood can't stand Maleek because of this fact alone. Now factor in the fact that he is one of the greatest basketball players to hit this side of town. Maleek signs up to play for the Laurelton Knights and becomes the star player, now his team hates on him. When Maleek ends up in jail falsely accused of a crime he did not commit revenge is on his mind. Maleek brings the noise extracting his revenge and no one is safe that has wrong him. While there are typos in this book there is nothing too distracting that I couldn't still enjoy the book. I look forward to Miz's next book and next time I won't let the page count distract me. The colors of the cover are very pleasing to the eye. After reading the book I must say the cover fits the book perfectly. SiStar Tea ARC Book Club Inc. 5 star rating
