Mental illness is real and a daily struggle for many Christians. Depression, anxiety, OCD, schizophrenia, and other mental illnesses affect every aspect of a Christian's life, including their spiritual walk. Yet, mental illness is taboo within the Christian church and is often addressed incorrectly and insensitively.
Approximately six years ago, my wife, a mental health therapist, experienced a severe psychotic break and was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. After serving as a minister and completing seminary, I still could not navigate my grief, my wife's schizoaffective disorder, my anxiety and depression, and my understanding of God. "Has He Lost My Mind" is the outcome of years of study, both biblically and scientifically, and my experiences as a caregiver and mental illness sufferer.
