Your Gift Can Make a Difference

"Harvest of Hope" is made up of stories which communicate the impact of life-changing gifts on their recipients. The book includes stories from Cambodia, Sudan, China, Senegal, North Africa, India, and Indonesia. These stories describe the courage, suffering, poverty, and hunger of refuges. They tell about impoverished families, orphans, AIDS victims, abandoned street children, and disaster victims. The stories are riveting, stirring and heartrending. Author Kay Marshall Strom visited Harvest of Hope ministries affiliates of Partners International on a trip that took her in courntries around the world to discover the results of the sacrificial giving of Christians everywhere. Her book is filled with reports of her journey. Strom describes the concept of designating donations for items listed in the Harvest of Hope gift catalog, some with income potential; such as a cow for a Cambodian family, or a piglet, or rice seedlings. Each chapter includes a true success story, the key benefit, and a key challenge of each ministry partner. Other ideas from the Harvest of Hope gift catalog include: education for a child in the Sudan, medical supplies for a clinic in Senegal, training for pastors planting churches in India, and therapy of disabled children in North Africa. Kay Marshall Strom writes to inspire and encourage readers to go beyond simply writing a check, to explore more fully the results of the contribution in the lives of the recipients. Her primary audience is Christian evangelicals. Strom hopes to stir up their vision for missions to include meeting the temporal needs of victims of disaster, drought, and hunger. She challenges the reader to join other in the cause to bring hope to individuals and whole communities, while opening the door to the love of God and the gospel of Christ.
