Damaged

My book came damaged, torn pages and stained. Granted I didn't pay much for it this is ridiculous.

"Good condition"

I ordered the good condition, the front cover has seperated from the spine so I don't feel that is very accurate.

Disappointed

The book came with no dust jacket and wasn’t advertised as such. Very disappointing. They also left a goodwill price tag on it for 3 dollars less than what I bought it for which I thought was odd. Definitely made me not want to order from here again.

Great condition with dust jacket

I was very satisfied with my perchase!

Missing Pieces

Great book but my book is missing the book cover. It was not listed in the description. I'm disappointed. My other ordered book came in good condition.

Different edition

The quality of the book is exactly as promised. Unfortunately, I’m buying these books to cover them with NerdyInk dust jackets that require certain editions of the book, and this was not what was advertised. I’ll be on the lookout for another one!

Disappointed, ordered good, looks fair/acceptable, parts of paper spine missing and dust jacket is

This book stated good condition but came without the cover

Great book Great Value. Book was a described.

Great job

Book as advertised My daughter loves it Thank you!

Not what I ordered at all

Trying to collect this original British set as a gift for my sister in law. Received a very random version of the book with a cloth cover. I’m only missing books 1&2 so it’s very frustrating to think you found something and it’s not right.

No dust jacket

Ordered this as a hardcover and received with no dust jacket which was not denoted in description or when ordering.

No issues!

I loved it. Got exactly what I ordered. Loved Dobby. Heir of Slythiren is not who I though they would be

Absolutely lovely

This copy is so beautiful! Well worth the $19.

Not what I ordered

I ordered a hardcover and received it with no sleeve.

What I ordered

Exactly as I expected.

Don’t mind the look of worn

It’s great. All the pages are intact and it look like a well read book. Not bad and can’t wait to add to my collection.

There was missing the first two discs. I will wait for the paperback.

The dvd has the first two discs missing. I wanted the paperback book. I will get that when it becomes available.

Covered in MOLD

Received what I ordered, but... the book is covered in MOLD. I can't give this to my students at all.

really good quality

the quality of this book is super good

Package and book came damaged

Received this package late and damaged. There is a visible razor slice on the package and thru to the book itself. From top to halfway through the book sleeve. Very disappointed.

love it!!!

i ordered a hardcover and got it even with a dust jacket! there are no ripped or missing pages. the book looks almost new. the only problem i had was that the gutter of a small section of pages was detached from the rest and when i open the book to where it’s detached i can see the spine of the book. but that’s completely fine to me. the copy i got was made in 1999 so it’s understandable. other than that i love the book. also i thought this was kinda cool but in the very first page there is a little note from 1999 from grandparents to their grandchild (i’m guessing). they were giving him my book as a christmas gift!

Great book!

My 6th grade is really into Harry Potter Books right now. He is almost finished with this one.

Great!

Had some writing but I don’t mind. The rest is very good quality!

best of the bunch

Ordered this with 2 other HP books. Listed as Very Good and while I dont agree and think its just Good but the Like new ones I ordered were fall apart and horrible this one was good. Came with the book jacket but overall the book is very dirty , some pages bent and the cover is ripped but overall its ok.

Chamber of Secrets

First time reading the books and it's better than I thought it would be. Would I reread it? Probably not soon. Would I recommend it? Sure.

love harry potter

love the harry potter books, but don't like them when they are bent.it's very hard to read a book that is bent, and it is very hard to get them flat again.love buying from you ,but come on!

i have it; great book.

Great!

Having read all the books in English, I picked this up to see what I could make of it. It is extremely well-edited; it keeps the important plot points and preserves all the flavor of the original book. Reading it in French, I noticed some subtle (and really adorable) things that I missed in English, simply becuase I had to read more carefully. I kept my dictionary close at hand, but it really is written on the level of, probably, a 9-year-old.

Excellent book, poor translation

...The translators chose idiomatic expressions particular to certain regions of Spanish-speaking countries, when common words would have been satisfactory. As if that was not bad enough, they also chopped up the narrative. This is not an abridged version, but a truncated one, as if they were in a hurry to finish the book or save pages. If Spanish is your second language, be aware that you may not understand some terms. Just skip them and memorize the names of the translators, so you won't buy another book ruined by them.Yet. . . the story is fascinating and the suspense in the plot is captivating. Even if the Spanish rendition of loses flavor due to poor translation, I was amazed, surprised, thrilled and fascinated all over again, and I was especially overjoyed to share with my daughter the excitement of the conspiracies and the joy of reading.I just hope that when the fourth and fifth books are translated to Spanish, the Spanish-speaking people will get an un-butchered version.

J.K.Rowling did it again!

"Harry Potter und die Kammer des Schreckens" is the German translation of the second Harry-Potter-book. I think I don't have to tell you anything about the story - see the reviews of the English version for details (besides: who wants to read more about the content of such a book than the back page offers - it would spoil some of the fun since the Potter books are in part a crime story!). The translation is - judging from my reading experience - well done and worth reading. The language is not too complicated so the book qualifies as reading stuff for a foreigner wishing to practice his German reading skills. I didn't find any translation mistakes - the language sounded genuine German and was vivid and fun to read. The names (always a problem when translating) are not altered, so some of the flair that comes with the nicely selected names of the original is lost to the non-English reader. But this second book shows that this is the right way to go: there is a name-letter-puzzle which plays a key role in this book and translating that one would have been a very hard task indeed. So the translation receives 5 stars, all well earned for the content as for the translation. My final note goes to the discussion if this book is for adults as well as teenagers or not: anyone waiting for deep insights into the society, mankind and the world we live in will be disappointed when reading this book. But it is by far the best youth book I ever read, 350 fast pacing pages and I never regretted that I bought it. Nobody whants to read Joyce all the time. And when I turn too light reading stuff, I expect quality as well. Here is where this book has its place in the adult market.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry, a twelve year old boy is continuing another fascinating year at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. This second book in the J.K. Rowling series is a must read! Not only do the main characters Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger set out to solve a new problem but, they realize that somebody has opened the Chamber of Secrets. Through trial and error our heroes search for clues to save one of their friends. Again Harry must put his life in danger to save others who are important to him. J.K. Rowling has introduced us to some new characters in book two. We meet a magical elf, Dobby, a new professor, Gilderoy Lockheart and finally Ginny Weasley, Ron's younger sister who joins the famous trio. I liked this book because it was a true page turner. As the reader you can search for possible clues along with Harry, Ron and Hermione. I would recommend this book to anyone over seven years old. J.K. Rowling did an excellent job on this book because it's exciting and full of adventure. I have learned from this book that life is full of tough challenges and problems. No matter how hard it is you have to be brave and trust in yourself to do the right thing.
