Great daily reflections

This daily reflections has a great positive outlook, and some inspiring messages. I recommend it for getting your day off to a positive start -- excellent for maintaining your recovery program.

Original, Affirmative, Emotionally Generous

Malachy McCourt is one of the most startling and perceptive writers in America. His voice is original, affirmative, and emotionally generous. The 366 quotes, reflections, and meditations in "Harold Be Thy Name" have been recorded with humor but, most importantly, with the underlying seriousness of a well-realized life. "Harold" offers intervention strategy material as well as maxims for sidestepping the rocks and ruins of everyday life, making it a book for people in recovery as well as for EVERYONE in need of spiritual nourishment. McCourt possesses a rare genius for knowing how to reach people with wit, intelligence, and understanding. This book is genuine and accessible, and can be re-read countless times.

For Drinkers? and Everyone Else

I have shared "Harold Be Thy Name" with many, many friends, all of whom declare it one of the most beautiful books they own. If they have a complaint, it is that the subtitle ("Lighthearted Daily Reflections for People in Recovery") targets too small an audience. These 366 meditations (a quote, followed by a reflection, followed by a meditation), can provide spiritual and emotional balm for anyone in any sort of crisis (or even for someone in calm waters, wishing daily uplift). For folks craving spirituality without piety, and warmth without sentimentality, Malachy is your man.

Why can't spirituality be fun!

I read Malachy McCourt's latest book of maxims and loved them. He is the kind of fellow you want to have over for dinner, because you can expect at least a good story and a song. McCourt is obviously a man who has been to the wars and back again, seen how dark things can get, and pulled himself away from the abyss. These are the kinds of people who give the best spiritual advice. And for God's sake, the book is fun, too!
