Happy at Home, Happy at Work

Authors Caitlin Friedman and Kimberly Yorio, best known for their work in helping women take control of their careers, now focus on mothers with their latest book //Happy at Work, Happy at Home//. The premise is that a happy and fulfilled woman at work will be a happy and fulfilled mother, and that one doesn't have to choose one role over the other. The chapters steers the working mom unto a path of home-work balance, with tips on streamlining priorities and getting organized. The book covers almost every working mom issue possible, including knowing your rights in the workplace, care-giving options, and the challenges of getting back into the workplace. The book is empowering, informative and entertaining, smattered with funny true-life stories of working moms. The chapters feature to-do lists, web resources and hints on how break down life and work challenges into manageable nuggets. With blurbs such as "15 Working Mom Mantras" and "Ten Signs that Things Need Readjusting in Your Life," the book offers every type of working mom a pearl of wisdom or, at the very least, relief that they are not alone in their push-pull demands of being both devoted to their children and work. Gift for my wife

She asked for it. She received it. She was happy with it. Don't know what else needs to be said.

Happy to read

Finally - a realistic take on the challenges and rewards of being a working mom. The practical tips are concrete, and the results seem attainable. I also related to many of the personal stories presented and they helped crystalize a lot of the emotions I was feeling, but couldn't quite put my finger on... This is a must-read for any working mom - if you are thinking of having children or already straddle the chasm between both worlds.

You can be both happy at work and at home. But you don't have to be perfect.

I'm not pregnant (yet), but I'm so glad I read Happy at Work, Happy at Home. I've been worried about how to juggle work and having babies as I seem to not even be able to get my house clean and dinner on the table while working as it is! This book arms you with the practical tools you need, along with guidance and support from real women who've been there.

I needed this book!

I needed this book when I was a young mom! Reading it brought back a flood of memories of trials and joys of being a young working mom. I found I was still thirsty for stories of other families, and for possible solutions to the inevitable challenges. Personally, I think this is the best book in the series. It flows effortlessly, weaving together relevant interviews, self-reflection, and tactical suggestions for home and work management. It manages to be both serious and hilarious, while keeping a logical development throughout. The latest Dan Brown had to take a back seat, as I couldn't put this book down.
