Happiness is your birthright!
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
Through 93 short but extremely helpful and inspiring vignettes, Rabbi Zelig Pliskin explains how we can defeat unhappiness and to create a new emotional reality in our brain creating a life of joy. He reminds us that we are created in G-D's image and deserve a joyful life. We must not rob ourselves of this joy but must rather claim this birthright! King Solomon gave us the following formula for happiness: "A good hearted person feasts perpetually (Proverbs 15:15). A good heart being the heart of "a person who consistently appreciates what he has". The author outlines three basic principles: 1) Appreciate and enjoy 2) Find the positive 3) Talk and act joyously He shows us how to master and benefit from these principles and how "a true commitment to achieving happiness requires mastering the attitudes and actions that create it. This involves careful study and repeated practise". The author teaches us that happiness is our birthright, how to appreciate and enjoy, to act joyously and how not to let other people's hateful words and actions affect us. He shows how neurolinguistic programming can change our reality and bring joy and gratitude into our lives. This will help all who read it, Jewish or not, maximize their joy and potential.
Best advice I've ever read on "How to Be Happy"

What a joy to read! Written in short, digestible, and life-enhancing vignettes, Rabbi Pliskin has written a classic that will be treasured for years to come. Throughout this incredible little book I tooks lots of notes and did lots of highlighting. After reading it, I went back and read and re-read, and will do so many more times throughout my life. He shares powerful principles that will change the way you see your world, and allow you, both to appreciate what you have, and have more of what you truly want. Magnificent!I've read hundreds of books on personal development, how to improve your life, etc. (and many of those books are excellent, making a big difference in my life), but Rabbi Pliskin's books are the best. "Happiness" is one of something like 13 or 14 books he has authored. Others such as "Consulting the Wise" and "Guard Your Tongue" will forever have a place in my library and be shared with my future children and grandchildren as soon as they are at an age of understanding. I have not just read most of Rav Pliskin's books; I have "devoured" most of them. His writing is easy to follow, very practical, and immediately applicable. Yes, he is an Orthodox Rabbi (and known throughout Orthodox Judaism as one of its most prolific writers), but you need not be Orthodox, or even Jewish at all, to benefit greatly from this book, or any of his others. Rabbi Pliskin's books, including this one, are gems!
