Dream boyfriend not included. When she moved to New York, Ryan Hadley imagined living the big-city-sitcom kind of life with all the trimmings -- great apartment, dream job, and a swept-off-your-feet,... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Being a 26 year old professional in New York, I was very curious to see the author's take on this demographic. I must say I was beyond impressed. This book could be about me. The emotions are perfectly in line with a struggling 20-something trying to master the key components of a successfull adulthood on the cusp of succumbing to a quarter-life crisis. Not only is this delightful piece of fiction believable, it is hilarious. The authors use every chance to showcase their wit to great effect. I laughed several times so hard I cried. I noticed another reviewer had mentioned that the characters seemed immature, more like 19 year olds. To them I say, are you a 20-something living in New York? Because these characters are very similar to myself and my post college, 20-something New York counterparts. As far as the language being "rough"..once again I say, have you met a 20-something New Yorker? This isn't the midwest. I relished the razor sharp quips throughout the story, go elsewhere for sugary namby-pamby fluff. I very much look forward to the next book by Libby Street (or either of the two authors.)
LOVE IT

Great book...The characters are all people you know. I totally relate to Ryan's mid-twenties life questions. The book is really funny and the humor is not forced like in some other chicklit books. The love story is also very real and keeps you wondering what will happen. Love it!
Couldn't put it down!

I had intended an initial cursory peak, with serious reading later - but I couldn't put it down! The characters are so real, the narrative so intimately that of the principal, Ryan, that I felt immediately, "I know those guys!" Even to the little store owner who dispenses smokes and snacks to our heroine. And the New York scene is defintely "the Big Apple" in all its personalities. Congratulations, you two!
Painfully Fun Fun Fun!

Living in NYC, I have a definite appreciation for Ryan's woes. Why is it that everyone's life seems oh so much more exciting than your own??? The writer does a great job of drawing the reader into Ryan's pitfalls (I grabbed my stomach in physical pain at one point!) and her successes (I cheered!) A word of advice to the reader - read this book in a place where it is safe to laugh and groan out loud - because you will!
