Wonderful and Enlightening Exercise

Carmel McConnell has put together a very insightful an thought provoking book. This is as close as it comes to being an "A-B-C", Fill In The Blanks type of book that leads you to figuring out what happiness is and how you can go about getting it and hanging onto it for dear life. It makes us look at what the true meaning of happiness is and shows how the real happiness glow is achieved by making others around us happy and benefiting from the overflow. It asks tough questions and debunks the myth of happiness just being the bigger car, nicer house, newest version of a ROLEX or nailing that new position at work. It helps you get to the core meaning of what true happiness would mean to you and how to go about making room for it and working toward it as a goal. It also points out that some people cannot or do not even define what it means to them and may not ever know if they have attained it or not. It is a good, thought provoking book and I highly recommend it for a quiet afternoon and a pot of tea, when you can set aside the noise of your everyday life and turn your thoughts inward for an introspective look as to who you are and what you want to be.

Being Happy Is So Critically Important

Carmel's book is an enjoyable read. A gracious reminder that no matter what is going on in the world around us... we should be grateful and happy that we are here, experiencing everyone of our creations. This book is a great reminder to each of us that we achieve greatness by being happy and joyful. Be grateful for all of our experiences. Yes, even the disturbing ones. It's through our greatest challenges that each of us attain our greatest growth. From within our Soul and our humanity. The Happiness Plan is simply that. An action plan to raise our vibrations out of the war-zone and into the love-zone. When we are happy from within, I have personally seen my world change to reflect the joy and happiness that I am emitting. Because the world is a refection of our thoughts, beliefs and feelings. For each of us to change how we see and experience our environment, we must change our thoughts away from a media-sensationalism world to a world of peace and serenity. I'm seeing my experiences changing to meet my new expectations of joy and happiness. So can you. There are exercises and worksheets to help you to see who you are now, and to work on who you want to be. This book is simple to follow. I recommend it highly. Blessings dear ones.

Simply Happy

What do we all really want? In my pursuit of success through wealth building, relationships, health, destiny, and peace of mind, I have learned that all these are simply in service of achieving happiness. Happiness is the ultimate destination we are all searching for. This book is written to guide you there in seven simple but powerful steps. 1. First we must decide to be happier. Allow more room for happiness. What can we do in the present here and now to be happy? Keep doing what makes us happy. 2. We must really search our hearts and discover what makes us happy. Note when you are happy through out your day. 3. Create a personal happiness plan. Forget about keeping up with the Jones's, what would really make you happy? 4. Unlearn unhappiness. Stop doing things that make you unhappy, stop your old patterns. 5. Make others happy. Spend time making others happy, it is contagious. 6. Plan to be happy through career fulfillment, having freedom of more time to spend as you choose (without poverty), improving relationships, and financial control (earning enough to do more than just pay bills). 7. Put your plan into action. "Happiness can really only be felt, not thought. And that only exists in the here and now. Happiness is someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for." "One must practice the things which produce happiness, since if that is present we have everything and if it is absent we do everything in order to have it." -Epicurus I have read several books on happiness, this is the most simple path to achieve happiness with simple steps of examining what makes you happy and pursuing those things while balancing your life. It will focus you to seek happiness down the correct path. I recommend this book.

Delightful, Insightful, Fabulous Addition to Your Happiness Library

I absolutely enjoyed everything about this book. The writing style was smart, sassy at times, heartfelt all the time and spoke right to my heart. The author shares how to incorporate into your life in three easy steps! Not your usual self-help book, where you wonder what planet the author lives on (one with no barking dogs or screaming kids or annoying people at all), this book helps you find the happiness that is already there and dust it off and enjoy it. For years I have had a book brewing in the back of my mind, one that tells people that being happy is not work, it can and should just BE! Now I don't have to write that book...the author did it for me! I received this book from the Vine program and I can tell you, I am buying copies and recommending it to every small book store I know. This book is THAT GOOD! Plus, the author is walking her talk, as she has started and maintains an amazing charity in the UK. Oh, speaking of hat...she does make references in British terminology, which I enjoy, just letting you know! PLEASE, if you are even slightly interested in being happier, buy this book, sit down and read it and DO the very fast, quick exercises. This book will change your life...if you let it!

Secular Buddhism

Many of the teachings in this book are identical to Buddhist teacihngs. I like the format, the ease of reading, and the quick way in which the point gets across. I have never been someone who is overly possimistic, or sad, even through my own struggles with life--losing my brother at a young age to leukemia, my own battle with breast cancer, throughout all of these tragedies that life hands down, there's always something to be happy about, some kernal of goodness to focus on. This book would be great for anyone who needs reminding of the many kernals in their life, though it doesn't come out and say "hey, be happy for the stuff you've got" or "look on the bright side" it's not so trite as that. My husband, a hater of self-help books said he wanted to read it, having glanced at it and found some things of merit in there, so that should say something! In all, I found it a quick read, with many little lists and exercises one can do if one likes to really work on happiness. Well worth the price!
