Every teacher needs this book!

Like many teachers, I have ordered dozens upon dozens of books, hoping for the perfect book. For students with special needs, this is one of those perfect books! It has pages of activities. Each page lists the activity, shows a picture of it, describes the materials necessary, and how it is done. This is a great book for ideas for functional activities that are simple to make and use and actually teach something to the student. No theory here -- I read the book one night and was able to try most of the activities in the classroom the very next day with materials I already had on hand. I have recommended it to every special day class teacher I have talked to.

Great Hands-On Activities

I was given a copy of this book by my department head. I teach High School-aged students (grades 9-12) with special needs. I was teaching a Job Preparatory class and wanted to create some interesting games and projects that the students could use to teach both fine/gross motor skills as well as work on socialization skills (through games). I found this book to have some of the easiest (to make) and most fun (to play) activities I have used with students. I have since recommended it to other educators at my school. The items needed for these projects are cheap and found in most home improvement stores!
