I have suffered from unremitting chronic pain for over two years. I have seen about ten different specialists, tried many different forms of treatment and had seven different types of imaging done. I take high doses of oxycontin daily. I find living with chronic pain testing and at times beyond me. I continue to work fulltime and the oxycontin allows me to do this. There is no diagnosis for the pain and this has meant that I have encountered attitudes amongst some medical practitioner that have been anything other than supportive. In researching my symptoms I came across this book. It has provided me with closure to some extent. It covers many subjects and provides me with knowledge about possible causation for my pain. It also covers the physiological processes I have been through and discusses the attitudes that some doctors hold toward the prescribing opiod medication for pain management. The book is helping me alot. I am so thrilled with the book that I often discuss certain aspects of it with my physiologist who has decided to buy a copy for his own purposes. Anyone living with chronic pain would benefit greatly from this book. Thank you to the authors for providing such an informed account of pain, it's causes and management.
