Halloween Night (Trick or Treat... The Trick is Not to Die...)

R.L. Stine is my all-time favorite author. I am working to buy and read every single one of his books. I am a writer, and I aspire to become an author as great as him. I will say that this book threw me for a loop. I didn't see the twist coming at the end. The book makes it clear that Brenda hates her cousin Halley because she keeps stealing her and her friend's boyfriend. Brenda hates Halley so much that she plans a murder. But the murder is not what you think, and the murderer is not who you think. I recommend this book to any young adult (or any adult) who loves suspense and twists. Halloween Night is totally worth the read. I love this book and would like to reread it at night in the dark sometime in the future.

A good read.

Mr. Stein is an excellent writer. I found this out to my delight after never having read any of his books I decided to give this one a try. He understands youth very well he is very descriptive and the book moves along at a fast pace and keeps you interested. About a third of the way through the book I figured out who the perpetrator was but that's only because I'm a former freelance private investigator and I'm used to this kind of deductive reasoning. I even figured out the psychological aspects as to why she did what she did. Don't let this keep you from reading this book, most people won't figure this out at least not as easily as I did and some may not figure it out at all. It makes it an excellent read. I would bet the younger crowd today would not figure it out at all and since that is the target audience I say this is a good read! The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it was a little easy for me but other than that I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It was well written with lots of twists and turns and I highly recommend it for Halloween. Hope this helps!

22 and still lovin' it!

I first read this book about 12 years ago. I have had the same copy since and have read it more times then i can count. R.L. Stine is a great writer and while books like this and the goosebumps series are aimed towards children, myself as well as many adults I know still love to read them again and again. This is a definite must have, a quick read you will enjoy for many years to come!

Halloween Night

Halloween NightBy: R.L. StineReviewed By: V. PatelHalloween Night is a book about a girl named Brenda whose cousin, Halley, had to spent a long time at her house. Halley's parents were going through a divorce, and she had a hard time going along with it. Halley, everyday, made Brenda mad, some times, she even mad her friends, Traci and Dina mad. The reason why she mad them mad was because she stole Brenda and Traci's boyfriends. Dina was going through the same thing that Halley was going through. Dina's parents were already divorced. Since Halley mad Brenda and her friends mad, they decided that Brenda would have a big Halloween party. It wasn't going to be just a party, they were going to trick Halley and make her think that they would kill her. So Brenda invited almost the whole school. Brenda, Traci, and Dina was planning the murderer plot, they were all very excited to do this. 3 times in a row when Brenda was alone in the house, something would be there to scare her. One day, someone put rotten meat on her bed, a dead pigeon with no head in her room, and would put blood on the wall. Brenda though that it was Halley. Though it wasn't. She planned to really kill Halley. But Halley found out about the murderer plot, and spoke to her about it. At the party, Halley and Brenda made a plan to make a switch and have Brenda killed instead. Though Brenda didn't die, she lived. Dina tried to kill her, and knew Brenda was the one to die. Dina claimed that she hated Brenda. They were no longer friends, but Halley and Brenda got together. I liked this book because of how the murderer plots. "Planning a murderer is harder than I though!" They had a hard time, but it was very interesting to find out who would Murder who. "That's it, let's really kill her!" This is a quote that Brenda said after thinking of all of the horrible things that Halley did. This is what I liked about this book. My Favorite part of this book is how Dina stabs Brenda. Everyone at the party was surprised and shocked and scared. Though I also loved how Brenda tricks everyone when she comes up alive. This was my Favorite part of the book.

Is Murder The Solution?

This book was very good. At the beginning it was not scary but towards the end things started changing. It's about a girl named Brenda whose cousin, Halley moves to her house for awhile. That's when the bad things begin. Halley starts talking to Brenda's boyfriend and Brenda doesn't like it. Then Brenda and her friends plan a surprise for Halley. Murder!

A Chilling Tale of Scares and Boos! that Frightens Too!

This is the best book that I think Stine has written so far. It is intriguing and interesting as well as suspenseful and chilling! It comes complete with those famouse Stine-twists wherever you read. It involves Brenda, her two best friends, Tracey and her other friend , and Halley, who is Brenda's much hated cousin. The reason that she is so hated is because she stole Tracey and Brenda's boyfriends. As Tracey and Brenda "plan" to "murder" Halley, their other best friend takes it as offense since her parents just got divorced just as Halley's did. At Brenda's big Halloween bash, things take a frightening turn. Read this book to find out the rest!

``Splendid Story With A Stine Twist``

Stine has really captured the art of great writing in 'Halloween Night'. This book was one of the best in the 'Point' series. The plot is so carefully done; every detail is told. Stine's way with words is superb. It certinally leads you to thinking other people are doing it; with all these 'red herrings' he throws. The end was a complete suprise, and the way the end was done was absoutely magníficó. This book captures what a young adult horror book is about, something just not done by other 'Point' books. Some of the books in the 'Point' series are slightly patronising, but not Halloween Night. This book is well worth a read. <P
