Gets the kids reading, too.

As our family has explored the benefits of clearing out foods that harm or health and filling up on whole, natural, raw foods that provide optimal nutrition, we're refreshed to find that Julie has created a book that our kids can thumb through and easily pick things up from. She addresses power struggles and helping your kids understand why you are replacing things they enjoy with healthier choices. There are great ideas for making a fun shopping trip with your family and getting them involved in the food preparation process. The materials are laid out with interesting little fact boxes, a "healthy lunch box list" and lots of fun recipes-many developed by kids! If you're not into testimonials or plugs for supplement products (like I am), you'll likely be turned off by the ongoing inclusion of this throughout the book. Of the hundreds and hundreds of supplements on the market, it gets tiring to hear each one of them say they have the end-all-be-all best product on the market. This book includes several testimonials about a barley grass supplement, so take it with your own good judgement and research. At the end of the book, there is a section on supplements for kids, where yet again the product is plugged for. I don't doubt that our bodies benefit from having barley grass powder, and the other supplements listed in this section make good sense. It's just amazing to see how many companies out there all seem to have the very best thing on the market! All in all, this is a great addition to your home library or cook book shelf if you have young children in the house (more specifically, grade school and middle school aged children). Most of the recipes they can make by themselves, and we've yet to try one that didn't get a thumbs up!
