Half Past Nowhere

Half past Nowhere is a coming of age story set in short story format. It is an emotinal read. Each story is detailed and descriptive, you feel as if you are part of the story. Some parts are sad, almost tragic, while other parts are uplifting and joyous. Great beachside read.

A modern, small town odyssey of intra and inter-psychic development.

Joey took me on a journey from his childhood innocence through a narcissism cultivated in the fear and confusion of dysfunctional family life.He moves into romantic idealism where objects still exist in service of the ego and ultimately on to authentic relationship. By the end of the book, he has developed a heightened consciousness of "self" and "the other". He is well into the process of individuation and is developing a sense of community. As I finished the collection, I found myself a bit hungry for more of Joey's adventuresome spirit and reflective mind, convincingly portrayed by the author's fine literary sensibilites and polished craft.

An enjoyable read

Through a collection of short stories, Cavano has created a unique coming of age tale that sends the reader on a journey through the raw experiences of adolescence. Often set in the beauty of the Catskills, Joey Fusaro pushes the boundaries on family, love, race, sexuality and spirituality. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

Loved Joey

Spartacus review mistaken in star rating of Half-Past Nowhere. Should have given the book the five stars it deserves. A wonderful read!

I couldn't put it down!

Half Past Nowhere was an extremely enjoyable read. I truly couldn't put it down. Each story was completely engrossing and I found myself lost in each one in a manner I have not experienced in years. I finished the book disappointed that it was over and desperately hoping for a sequel.
