Mark Steele writes with humor and wisdom

Mark Steele author of Half-Life/Die Already writes with humor and wisdom. Both Mark and Kaysie were Christians when they met. Each distinctly heard the voice of God (at different times). The Lord assured each that they were meant to marry. If only more people waited for their God chosen mate there would be less divorce. I hate to laugh at someone else's expense but I had to. Mark fell through the ceiling of his bedroom. Well fell through does not exactly describe what happen. His feet fell through but he ended up straddling a beam. I can only imagine the pain. (After all, I am female.) He spent quite some time trying to find out why he was ill no one ever related it the accident. He was so sick he at times wanted to die. Mark allows reader a glimpse inside his journey to a closer relationship to God. Only by dying to self can we truly live for the Lord. I laughed a lot and cried a lot (especially for Hero) as I read this book. Mark Steele and his family lived through eighteen months of trials and tribulations yet they came out stronger. This is a must read for everyone. We all face what I call storms of life through our Savior we can find strength to keep going. Thank you, Mr. Steele, for allowing us to laugh with you. We have learned to grow from your situations.

Solid

This is a solid book that touches on emotions all men feel but never talk about or hear others talk about. Written with an honesty that is sadly missing from most Christian books.

Great Read!!

What an incredibily difficult time in a man's life!! Mark Steele writes with such candor and vulnerability that allows me to enjoy, laugh, cry, sympathize, and see the correlations with my own life. His witty style never gets old and I can sit down and pick up anywhere in the book and enjoy a great read. I sure hope he writes another one.

Funny But True

Mark has a signature style of humor and heartache that is rare. His stand-up comedy roots are in full force here, and he is just as funny recounting events on the page as he is at the mic. But Mark has grown into a deep thinker and passionate advocate for introspection and spiritual renewal, no matter how painful that may be or how long it may take. I have always marveled at Mark's ability to endure the hard stuff life throws at him (read and you'll see!), and then turn it into comedy with a point. Comedy with a POINT. Imagine that. It's not impossible. Read "Half Life" and see.

Mark Steele is a real man!! Genuinely inspiring.

I got this book because I loved his first one (Flashbang) so much and I was sure this would be another great one. I was so sure that I pre-ordered multiple copies so I could give a few to some close friends. I was NOT disappointed. If you're not used to his writing style it doesn't take long to become familiar with it and enjoy it. The author has a unique ability to tell a number of stories and seemlessly relate them all together. Honestly I think he was better at that in this book than in Flashbang. You will laugh out loud while reading this book. An on-going dilemma throughout the book is him trying to find relief from an accident involving his mid-section. This subject would likely be comical anyway but Steele has an undeniable talent for putting words together that demand a smile and usually an audible chuckle. HLDA takes you through some truly low points in Steele's life. The string of unfortunate events pounds at their family and you want to look away but you keep reading because you want to make sure they come out OK. Steele, a Christian, doesn't hide his frustration and questions from us or God. He's extremely open and leads us through his conversations with God and the flaming darts of evil. Don't miss the ending. He doesn't leave anything hanging.
