Was a big fan of this book when I was a kid. Found it fascinating, pretty funnny too. Plenty of drawings. Features Dik Browne's Hagar the Horrible going around Europe, Britain and Russia. Features Dik Browne's view on Viking exploration & Viking life too. Gives some background to the comic strips that way. Worth getting for fans.

Everything a Hägar fan could want

This lovable book bills itself as "an introduction to the Gothic Arts of Pillaging, Pilfering, Sacking, Looting, Ravaging and Plundering." Well, I wouldn't quite go so far. What it is instead is a look into the world of Hägar the Horrible, Viking extraordinaire. Created by the incomparable Dik Browne (1917-89), Hägar is a lovable rogue: fighting, carousing, drinking, and partying his way across Dark Ages Europe, and doing his share to make it just a little darker. This book has everything a Hägar fan could want. It's explains who the Vikings are, how they think (or not), how they party, and what they do. Filled with Dik Browne's wonderful cartooning, it's a hilarious book. My two favorite parts are the Viking Code, and the list of the "10 Most Sackable Cities in Europe." This is a great book, a must-have for any Hägar fan. If you can get this book then do so, you won't regret it!

From the comic strip Hagar, a fictional viking

Full of funny stuff, The Viking at Home, at work, real work, and more. From the book " Rome fell in 475 A.D. The Dark Ages spread over Europe. Civilization died out. people got stupider and stupider. Things couldn't possibly get worse. And then....... The Vikings showed up in 800 A.D." It did seem a little short though.
