As a friend of mine said: This book was written to win awards

The book has no heart. There is a slight touch in her grief, but not enough to help the reader sympathize with her. Much of the book is quotes taken from another writer's book, one could simply read the sword and the stone to get that information. Do not waste your time on this one

Not what I expected

This book tells the story of mourning loss, training a Goshawk, and perhaps some self growth. It was a shadow biography of another falconer- White. The author spends a lot of time discussing White's life and his issues. There are interesting and good parts but I definitely fell asleep more than once reading this book and was relieved to be done reading it.
