Growing Mathematical Ideas in Kindergarten

Great book to start with to get an idea about math in Kindergarten. Includes scripted conversations between teacher and students, activity ideas, lesson plan design, integration with other content areas, and connecting big ideas and content standards.

An excellent resource for kindergarten teachers!

As a new kindergarten teacher, I found Dacey's and Eston's book to be a wonderful resource. The authors weave together their conceptual framework with many, many examples of student work and lesson plans. I found the dialogues between student and teacher to be especially helpful because they provided insights into how to frame questions that encourage extended mathematical thinking. The book is enjoyable to read and provides two excellent appendices of additional resources and an extensive bibliography.
