The theme of this story is so romantic! A business owner marries her genius product developer to prevent him from being deported, and as they live their life together, convincing the INS that this is a love-match and not a marriage of convenience, they slowly fall in love. At time, I grew weary of the icy protective walls Julia built around herself, which seemed to take forever to melt. Alek was a very patient man, but sometimes his persistent efforts to get through to Julia came across as too pushy. Still, I love these older Debbie Macomber books because even though they lack the "polish" of her later novels, they have a special raw charm. And I loved all the books in this series because the idea of two people who are thrown together due to unusual circumstances and end up falling in love appeals to my romantic heart!
