Great Quick Reference

Excellent quick look-up book. By no means all-inclusive, but that is not the purpose. The PDA version I use more and is also excellent, but my clinic has both, and it depends on your media preference.

Medical Resident Physicain: 5MCC is pertinent and efficient

Perspective: As a medical resident of Internal Medicine as well as Pediatrics, I am often hard pressed for time and in need of information that is succinct, yet reliably complete. I have found 5MCC to be just such an outstanding resource.Content: While not inclusive of every disorder/condition, 5MCC has focussed on both the common as well as the serious illnesses that a physician needs to be efficient and effective.Organization: The "single-spread" layout is a welcome sight to anyone who wants to get to the point without wading through pages and pages. Iconic references allow quick identification of topic sections. Consistent organization lends to systematic study and memorization.Application: I find this reference perfect to brush up on a topic I haven't recently encountered (in study or practice). It is a good reference to cross reference differential diagnoses and confirm completeness in an initial patient work-up. I have used this book in inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as for telephone triage.Evaluation: I give this text my highest recommendation.

Absolute must have for primary care providers

This book is essential in todays 15 min appt times to aid in quick workups of problems, speedy diagnosis and treatment of the problem.

Great source for medical information for medical personal

This volume is a needed manual for the health care provider. The general information on disease processes are invaluable. Everything needed for charting up through ICD9 coding for insurance is covered. A must have volume!
